Barrett Communications have established a health radio network throughout East Timor

The network consists of 85 base stations situated in hospitals and health centres throughout the country and mobile HF communications installed in 11 ambulances.

Network supervisor Brett Hornidge and two East Timorese Health Department assistants are traversing the country conducting training and installing systems consisting of Barrett 930 transceivers, solar power supplies, lightweight aluminium masts and single wire broadband dipoles. With close to half of the installations completed and operational, the remaining equipment should be on line by the end of the year.
